Super Bowl first quarter: Patriots 0, Seahawks 0

Story line New England again failed to score in the first quarter of a Super Bowl, something the Patriots have done all six times during the Bill Belichick-Tom Brady era. It appeared the Pats finally were on their way to snapping that puzzling streak when Brady led them from their 32 to a first down at the Seattle 14. But New England managed only 4 yards on its next two plays, setting up a third-and-6 at the Seahawks' 10. Instead of taking a sack while under heavy pressure, Brady threw an ill-advised pass into the end zone to an area where no Patriot was in the vicinity.
