Earl Lloyd, the first African-American to play in the NBA, died Thursday at 86, according to Detroit ABC affiliate WXYZ . Lloyd made his NBA debut as a Washington Capital on Oct. 31, 1950, later playing with the Syracuse Nationals and finishing his career with the Detroit Pistons in 1960.
