Rivalry football game in Alameda canceled over fight

This Friday's cross-town rivalry football game between Encinal and Alameda high schools, a decades-long tradition dubbed the Island Bowl, has been canceled because most of Encinal's players are suspended due to a fight, officials said Tuesday. Encinal High forfeited the game in the aftermath of a brawl on its home field during last week's game against Center High of Antelope , Alameda Unified School District officials said in a statement.
