Hewitt soldiers into second round

Lleyton Hewitt trails Brian Baker 2-3 in hip operations, and 5-6 in major career surgical procedures, but now leads the American 1-0 in career matches, after overcoming rain delays and some shaky serving to complete a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory in the first round of the Australian veteran's 13th US Open.
